Blogger Recognition Award aka BRA

After a nice, quiet bookish weekend, I opened my blog on Monday to find a comment from Gel stating that she has awarded me for the Blogger Recognition Award.

First things first: thank you, Gel, for the nomination. Go and check her out. Gel’s got a great blog. She shares many inspirational quotes and wonderful bookish posts. You can find her blog here.

Now, what is this Blogger Recognition Award? In short, it’s an award that is shared by and for bloggers with the goal of connecting bloggers. It was originally created by Eve Estells. The Blogger Recognition Award (sidenote: the acronym is BRA) follows a few rules that every blogger ought to follow. So, being a good girl, I’ll stick to the rules ( but mind you, just this time 😉 ):

Rule 1: Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
Rule 2: Provide a link to the award creator.
Rule 3: Attach the award to your post.
Rule 4: Nominate fifteen other bloggers, excluding yourself and the person who nominated you.
Rule 5: Write a brief story of how you started your blog.
Rule 6: A piece or two of advice to new bloggers.
Rule 7: Comment on the blogs you have named here to let them know you have nominated them.

How I started my blog

It’s weird looking back as there have been so many changes both visually and contentwise. I started out blogging on a different platform when I started my exchange to Germany. I thought it would be a nice way to keep my family informed on what I’m up to. Plus, I had always loved writing, so it was not a punishment at all. Once in Germany, I decided I could do more and discovered WordPress. At first, I was blogging about many things, from big political discussions to my latest adventure in Germany. It was not until 2015 that my blog turned into a book blog. At that same time I started YouTubing and decided to purchase a domain name. And that brings us to the here and now. Still going strong and with many wonderful bloggers (a wink to you, Gel) I am in touch with. Some I know in person, others I know online (it’s not just the scary place it’s made out to be).

Advice, advice. You know, there’s a lot I can say about technical stuff, but I don’t think there’s really a formula for blogging. The point is… enjoy it and enjoy all aspects of it. Blogging isn’t just writing. Blogging means being in touch with others, discovering new things and getting out of your comfort zone every now and then. Just do what feels good. You’ve started it, because you think it’s fun, right? Well, that’s the point. Don’t do it, because you plan to earn a lot of money. Do it because you like it.

Ah, yes. Well I’ve got 15 spots, so I have the luxury of being able to choose quite a few. Be warned, there’s mostly book bloggers here. It’s what I enjoy reading most. Here goes!

  1. Abbie from Cafe Book Bean
  2. Holly from Nut Free Nerd
  3. Rose (me scusi, I don’t know your first name) from The Wordy Rose
  4. Brianna from Personally Me Blog
  5. Daniel from The Oddity Writer
  6. A Reader of Literature
  7. Klinta from Book Owly
  8. Angel from Miss Wicked Girl
  9. Gabrielle from Frumious Reads Books
  10. Olive from Olive the books
  11. Rachel from Never Enough Novels
  12. Monique from Write Note Reviews
  13. The Struggling Writer
  14. Emily from The Bookshelf of Emily J.
  15. Made from An Expressive Endeavour

Thanks again, Gel, for thinking of me!
