I received some amazing news yesterday: I just successfully completed my Master’s in Writing. I’m done. I’m finished. I’m now – I’ll indulge myself for a moment – a Master of Arts. Fancy, no?
God. I’ve been waiting for this moment for such a long time. My Master’s. Finally. It’s been an exhausting road and, looking back now, it’s hard to believe I ever was that unknowing twat I was six years ago.
There are many things I have learned, but one big thing will stay with me: persistence pays off. It’ll help me with my stories in the future, I’m sure. I wrote three theses and persistence and patience was something I greatly lacked before I started my first thesis. However, working on this big project day by day, hour after hour means you end up with something to be proud of.
I popped open a bottle of champagne, got myself a really indulgent Starbucks mocha frappuccino with whipped cream and played Rockband in the middle of the night. I’m celebrating and damn right I should!!! As should you whenever you achieve something awesome. Don’t just walk by those moments. Enjoy them and feel the bliss of a job well done. I’m feeling it right now and I won’t let it just pass me by because of a demanding schedule. I’ll take my time and enjoy what I have just achieved.
